Gorilla Rows

Why do Gorilla Rows?

The gorilla row is a great substitute if you don't have an adjustable bench for chest supported rows. Although it is not a fully supported row option, the load on the lower back is minimal because with each rep you support yourself on the opposite kettlebell. That being said, it is still important to brace the core like you would for a bent over row.

Key Points for performing the gorilla row:

  • Stand with feet slightly wider than shoulder width with feet just behind the kettlebells

  • Brace the core like you would for a bent over row

  • Row kettlebell towards chest while contracting the lats similar to performing a single arm dumbbell row

  • Suppport the weight with the arm that is not rowing by leaning on the opposite kettlebell
